Hatha yoga is the yoga that was introduced to the West in the mid-60s era of the flower child and free love. While the other two experiments didn’t last, the introduction of this particular style of yoga not only lasted but prospered and opened the door to many other types of yoga practice. This is still my favorite type of yoga to teach because Hatha Yoga, while gentle and relaxing, is about stretching and creating flexibility in the body, and connecting the mind, body and spirit through breathing, meditation and stress reduction with relaxation.
